Benin Republic head coach, Gernot Rohr, has predicted that Zimbabwe will put up a tough challenge against Nigeria when the two teams meet in a 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifier on Tuesday.
The Super Eagles will host Zimbabwe at the Godswill Akpabio Stadium in Uyo on Tuesday evening.
Eric Chelle’s side come into the match after a 2-0 win over Rwanda in Kigali on Friday, while Zimbabwe played out a 2-2 draw with Benin.
At his post-match press conference, Rohr said:
“The 2-2 draw is okay. In the first half, we were the better team, but they dominated the second half. A 2-2 result means one point.
“We knew this was Zimbabwe’s last chance to qualify for the World Cup. Now, with three points, it is over for them.
“But they are fighting very hard, and I believe that with this coach and his staff, they will put up the same fight [against Nigeria] in Uyo, as well as against Rwanda and Lesotho.”
Nigeria currently sit in fourth place in Group C, while Zimbabwe are at the bottom of the group.
