Rwanda’s head coach, Adel Amrouche, has stated that his team gifted the Super Eagles two goals in their 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifying match on Friday.
The East Africans were defeated 2-0 by Nigeria at the Amahoro Stadium in Kigali, dropping to third place in Group C following the loss.
Amrouche expressed his frustration with his team’s performance, saying they lacked fighting spirit throughout the match.
“We gifted them two goals. Conceding a goal in the 10th minute forced me to change my game plan,” the Algerian coach told reporters in the post-match press conference.
“My players lacked fighting spirit. I hate to lose; I am not a loser. What hurt me most was that the president of the nation (Paul Kagame) was there, as well as the fans who came to support us. If some players don’t improve, they will be replaced by new players.”
The Amavubi will host Lesotho’s Crocodiles next Tuesday.
