Former England winger Chris Waddle has urged manager Thomas Tuchel to build his team around Chelsea’s Cole Palmer.
Waddle believes it would be “daft” not to make Palmer the focal point of Tuchel’s revamped England squad, citing the midfielder’s impressive performances since his move from Manchester City.
Tuchel, who succeeded Gareth Southgate as England manager last October, officially began his tenure in January.
“Cole Palmer always catches the eye,” Waddle told Prime Casino. “He’s a great creative player. People forget that creativity is the hardest part of football.
“Palmer has been outstanding for Chelsea. He has so much ability and scores goals.
“If Tuchel doesn’t build a team around him—yes, people can argue we have Bellingham—but ignoring Palmer would be daft.
“He’s the best option if we want to go out and win a tournament.”
