Inter Miami defender Jordi Alba has named Argentine football legend Ángel Di María as the toughest player he has ever faced.
The former Barcelona left-back praised Di María for his enduring quality, noting that although the Argentina international is a year older than him, he continues to perform at a high level. Speaking to Offsider, Alba expressed admiration for Di María’s time at Real Madrid.
“Di María was the toughest,” Alba said. “He was spectacular at Madrid, not only for his attacking play but also his defensive work—he never stopped.”
Alba went on to highlight Di María’s impressive stamina: “He’s a year older than me, and he still runs. He’s a player I’ve always admired.”
The two players faced off 10 times in La Liga, with Alba winning only twice, both victories coming while he was at Barcelona. Interestingly, the two have never played against each other at the international level.
