Tottenham Hotspur captain Son Heung-min has cited “concentration” and “sloppiness” as major factors contributing to the team’s poor form, which has intensified pressure on manager Ange Postecoglou.
Spurs have been winless in the Premier League since defeating Southampton on December 15, managing only five points out of a possible 33 in that period. Sunday’s 2-1 loss to Leicester City marked their sixth defeat in seven league matches, further compounding their struggles.
Despite growing frustration among fans, the club’s hierarchy reportedly continues to back Postecoglou, recognizing the significant impact injuries have had on the team’s performance.
Speaking after the disappointing Leicester defeat, where Spurs let a first-half lead slip with two quick goals early in the second half, Son described the result as “very painful.”
“We can’t just blame tiredness because we had just come out for the second half. Maybe it was a little bit of sloppiness. It’s not individual mistakes—it’s everything combining together,” Son explained.
“It’s just a lack of concentration and some sloppiness. In the Premier League, any team can punish us for that.”
The Spurs skipper emphasized the need to shut out external criticism, focus on improvement, and look ahead to the remainder of the season.
“We try to block out any outside noise as a squad. We just want to get as many points as possible. There are still a lot of games left, and getting injured players back—especially experienced ones—will be very helpful.
“We just need to concentrate on every game and training session,” Son concluded.
