Manchester United midfielder Casemiro is reportedly “open to the possibility” of joining Roma on loan for the rest of the season.
The Brazilian, who was signed for £60m from Real Madrid and became a fan favorite during his debut season at Old Trafford, has struggled to replicate that form in his second season. Under new manager Ruben Amorim, Casemiro has fallen out of favor, making just two starts in the Premier League this season and remaining an unused substitute in eight of the last ten games. He has yet to feature at all in 2025.
Amorim has favored other midfield combinations, including Kobbie Mainoo, Manuel Ugarte, Bruno Fernandes, and Toby Collyer, while Christian Eriksen has also seen his playing time reduced.
Sky Sport Italia has reported that United is willing to allow Casemiro to leave on loan before the winter transfer window closes, with Roma emerging as a possible destination. If Leandro Paredes moves to Boca Juniors, as speculated, it could clear the way for a move.
United would prefer a permanent transfer for Casemiro, with links to the Saudi Pro League surfacing, though no such offers have been received. The slower, more tactical style of Serie A could be a better fit for the 32-year-old, especially after a series of injuries last season disrupted his form.
Casemiro’s contract with United runs until 2026, so the club’s decision on his longer-term future, should a loan move be agreed, remains to be seen.
