Al Nassr’s new signing, Jhon Duran, has refuted media reports claiming he joined the club for financial reasons.
The Colombian striker completed his move from Aston Villa to Al Nassr on Friday for a fee that could rise to €80m. Duran has signed a five-year contract with the club, reportedly worth €110m, tax-free.
In an interview with the club’s website, Duran, who will share a dressing room with Cristiano Ronaldo, described the Portuguese star as “the best athlete in the world.”
“I am very happy with this step. People can speculate, but only my family, my agent, and I know the real reasons behind these decisions,” Duran explained.
“To me, he is the biggest star in football. I hope to reach his level quickly, learn everything I can from him, and follow in his footsteps,” he added.
