Manchester United manager Ruben Amorim has revealed that winning the FA Cup won’t be enough to salvage the Red Devils’ season.
The Portuguese coach made this statement following Manchester United’s 2-1 victory over Leicester City in the FA Cup on Friday.
In his post-match comments, Amorim emphasized that he cannot focus solely on the momentum of the cup to salvage the season. “I cannot focus just on saving the season with the momentum of the Cup. That’s not how I view football, and it’s not how I view Manchester United,” he said.
“For me, it’s about everything – the performance, the results. I’m not thinking about the end of the season right now because the final is at the end of the season. I’m focused on the present. And right now, the present is clearly not good enough. It’s a good result, but we move forward to the next stage. We have a week to prepare, but today was not a good day.”
Amorim also took responsibility for the team’s performance, stating, “It’s everything. The coach is the first one responsible. When a team doesn’t perform and doesn’t improve, it’s the coach’s fault. But we are here to analyze the game, study it, and try to improve for the next match.”
