Nollywood star Ayo Adesanya is talking candidly about her troubled marriage and personal life.
Ayo disclosed in an interview with media personality Chude Jideonwo that she became an alcoholic as a result of her ten years in an abusive marriage. She described how, whenever he saw her, her ex-husband would hit her.
According to her, she couldn’t leave because of the shame that people would say she couldn’t keep a man. Ayo noted how Bimbo Akintola and some of her colleagues got angry because she couldn’t leave her ex.
Ayo Adesanya further recalled how her ex threatened to pluck out her eyes with a knife and sent her son away to Ibadan at 1 year old because he was jealous of the attention she was giving to him. She also revealed why her next relationship didn’t work out and her journey back to Nollywood.
“Anywhere my ex-husband saw me, he would beat me.
He beat me so much, I became an alcoholīc. But I couldn’t leave because of the shame that people would say I couldn’t keep a man”.
Ayo Adesanya was formerly married to one Goriola Hassan, but they are now divorced. She also has a son.
