Aston Villa manager Unai Emery has praised Marcus Rashford and Marco Asensio for their performances after the duo made their debuts for the club off the bench against Tottenham Hotspur in the FA Cup over the weekend.
Emery highlighted how both players remained consistent and focused during the match.
Rashford and Asensio joined Villa on loan last week, with Rashford coming from Manchester United and Asensio from Paris Saint-Germain. Both were named among the substitutes for Sunday’s game against Spurs.
After Morgan Rogers gave Villa the lead, Rashford and Asensio came on as Emery’s side secured a 2-1 victory in their FA Cup fourth-round tie.
“Garcia and Malen both played the way we had planned,” Emery said in his post-match interview. “They were consistent and focused. As for Marcus Rashford and Asensio, we saw their skills and how they helped us. They will continue to assist us in the coming months as we face different competitions.
“We are entering a new phase with the changes we’ve made. We are demanding of ourselves because we still need to improve on certain tactical aspects and how we want to compete in the Premier League.”
