Real Madrid forward Kylian Mbappe has revealed that he plans to seek advice from his teammate Luka Modric on how to win the Ballon d’Or.
The prestigious individual award has so far eluded Mbappe, despite being one of the most talented footballers in recent years.
When asked about the Ballon d’Or, the former Paris Saint-Germain star responded with a touch of humor, saying he would turn to Croatian legend Modric for guidance.
Modric won the award in 2018, becoming the first player to break the decade-long dominance of Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo.
Ahead of France’s 2-0 defeat to Modric-led Croatia in the first leg of their Nations League quarterfinal on Thursday, Mbappe was asked about the Ballon d’Or. He joked:
“Ballon d’Or? I’m going to ask Luka Modrić how to win it (laughs).”
Last year, Mbappe’s teammate Vinicius Jr. was considered one of the front-runners for the award but ultimately lost out to Manchester City’s Rodri.
