Brentford staged a dramatic late comeback to earn a 2-2 draw against Manchester City on Tuesday.
The first half saw both sides create chances, but City’s positional dominance was evident as they managed 20 touches in the Brentford box. Despite this, they only registered two shots on target before the break.
Five minutes into the second half, Savinho struck the post, and Erling Haaland missed a golden opportunity with a header. After Mikkel Damsgaard had a goal disallowed for offside, City finally broke through when Phil Foden volleyed home a brilliant cross from Kevin De Bruyne.
Nathan Ake preserved City’s lead with a goal-line clearance, and Foden doubled the advantage with a rebound finish 12 minutes from time, seemingly securing victory for Pep Guardiola’s side.
Brentford, however, refused to give up. Yoane Wissa pulled one back in the 82nd minute, and Christian Norgaard headed in a stoppage-time equalizer to spark wild celebrations.
The Bees nearly completed an incredible turnaround in the 95th minute, but Ake was on hand again to clear a late effort off the line, salvaging a point for a stunned City.
