Only four teams remain in the 2024/25 UEFA Champions League following the conclusion of the quarter-finals on Wednesday night. One of these sides will be crowned champions of Europe on Saturday, 31 May 2025, at Munich’s Allianz Arena.
Barcelona and Paris Saint-Germain were the first to secure their spots in the semi-finals. Despite losing the second leg to Borussia Dortmund on Tuesday, Barcelona’s commanding 4-0 win in the first leg gave them enough cushion to progress. The Catalan giants are chasing their first Champions League title in ten years.
PSG also suffered defeat in their second leg, falling to Aston Villa. However, the French side’s convincing win in the first leg in Paris proved decisive. Still chasing their first-ever Champions League crown, PSG march on.
Inter Milan booked their place in the final four with a hard-fought victory over Bayern Munich. A crucial 2-1 win in Germany gave them the edge, and although Bayern pushed back to draw 2-2 in the return leg, it wasn’t enough. The tie also marked what could be Thomas Muller’s final Champions League appearance.
Arsenal, meanwhile, are into their first semi-final since 2009. They stunned reigning champions Real Madrid with a 3-0 win in the first leg and held their ground in the return fixture in Spain, even adding to their aggregate lead before Madrid managed a response. It’s a landmark moment for the Gunners, who, like PSG, have never lifted the trophy.
One of Arsenal or PSG is now guaranteed to reach the final, meaning there’s a strong chance we’ll see a new name etched onto the trophy this season.
