Chelsea secured a 1-0 victory over Leicester City on Sunday, climbing back into the Premier League’s top four.
Cole Palmer had an early penalty shout turned down, but Jadon Sancho’s appeal 19 minutes in was deemed valid. The winger went down after Victor Kristiansen stepped on his toe, but Palmer’s resulting penalty was well saved by Mads Hermansen.
Leicester posed a brief threat on the counter, with Tosin Adarabioyo accidentally heading the ball onto his own crossbar. However, both teams went into the break without breaking the deadlock.
Frustration mounted among the home fans as Chelsea struggled to make an impact in attack. But their nerves were calmed on the hour mark when Marc Cucurella fired a low strike into the bottom corner from the edge of the box.
With Leicester deflated, the remainder of the match played out in lackluster fashion, as Chelsea comfortably saw out the win, securing all three points.
