Chelsea have reportedly made it clear that they will not entertain any offers for midfielder Moisés Caicedo, despite growing interest from Saudi Arabian club Al Nassr.
Earlier this week, it was revealed that Al Nassr had identified Caicedo as a key target in their plans to strengthen their squad around star forward Cristiano Ronaldo, who is set to extend his stay at the club. However, Chelsea is firmly committed to retaining the Ecuador international.
Caicedo has been a standout performer for Chelsea this season, playing a pivotal role in midfield under manager Enzo Maresca. He has become an essential player for the Blues, with his impressive performances earning him a starting spot in every Premier League match. His importance is highlighted by the fact that he has logged more minutes than any other player at Chelsea this season.
Chelsea paid a British record £115m to secure Caicedo’s services two years ago, and the club is reportedly seeking a similar fee should they ever consider parting with the 23-year-old, whose contract runs until 2031 with the option for an additional year.
To ensure they have sufficient midfield depth, Chelsea have already secured a deal to sign Sporting CP’s Dário Essugo, and Brazil international Andrey Santos is expected to return from his successful loan at Strasbourg. Nonetheless, Caicedo remains a key part of Chelsea’s long-term plans.
