According to The Chelsea Chronicle, Chelsea has been made aware of the potential availability of Bayer Leverkusen striker Victor Boniface in the final days of the January transfer window.
With the club struggling to convert chances and slipping from second to sixth in the Premier League, adding a reliable goal scorer remains a top priority. Nicolas Jackson’s recent dip in form and doubts over Christopher Nkunku’s ability to lead the line consistently have further highlighted the need for reinforcements.
Chelsea had initially been linked with Aston Villa’s Jhon Duran, but his move to Al Nassr in the Saudi Pro League has eliminated him as an option. This has sparked increased speculation about whether the Blues will pursue another striker before the window closes.
Previously, Chelsea had been in talks for Boniface, but negotiations stalled due to uncertainties surrounding his future. Initially, it was reported that he was set for a move to Saudi Arabia, but with that deal now off the table, top European clubs, including Chelsea, have been alerted to his availability.
Transfer expert Graeme Bailey confirmed that Chelsea is aware of Boniface’s situation, though securing a deal at this stage of the window would be challenging.
The Nigerian international is highly regarded, and any potential transfer would require a significant financial outlay. However, his age, potential, and proven goal-scoring ability make him an appealing long-term option.
Boniface had an impressive start to the season with Bayer Leverkusen before injuries sidelined him for an extended period. Despite missing a run of eight consecutive Bundesliga victories, his goal-scoring form remains strong.
