Real Madrid defender Antonio Rudiger has issued an apology for his actions towards referee Ricardo de Burgos Bengoetxea during Saturday’s Copa del Rey final loss to Barcelona.
Barcelona triumphed 3-2 in extra time, thanks to a goal from Jules Kounde, sealing the victory in Sevilla.
As tensions mounted in the final moments of the game, particularly after Kounde’s decisive goal, Rudiger tried to confront De Burgos Bengoetxea and threw an ice cube at him. This led to the Germany international receiving a red card for his actions.

After the match, Rudiger acknowledged his mistake, stating there was no excuse for his behavior.
“There’s no excuse for my behavior last night. I’m very sorry for that, and I apologize to the referee,” Rudiger said, as quoted by Fabrizio Romano.
“We played really well after the second half. But after 111 minutes, I couldn’t help my team anymore, and I made a mistake before the final whistle.”
