Chelsea are one step closer to the Conference League quarter-finals after securing a 2-1 win over Copenhagen at Parken Stadium on Thursday night.
The Blues built a 2-0 lead in the Danish capital, so Copenhagen’s late goal to pull one back was disappointing, as it kept them in the tie.
After a goalless first half, Reece James gave Chelsea the lead with a powerful low strike from outside the box, finding the bottom corner almost immediately after the restart.
Midway through the second half, Enzo Fernandez doubled Chelsea’s advantage, converting a cross from Tyrique George in the center of the box.
However, Gabriel Pereira’s late header ensured Copenhagen remained in the contest, though Chelsea still hold the upper hand heading into the second leg at Stamford Bridge next week.
