Real Madrid goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois has acknowledged that the team is deeply missing midfielder Toni Kroos this season.
Courtois and Kroos were teammates from 2018 until the end of the 2023-24 season, when the German midfielder decided to retire from professional football after Euro 2024 in Germany.
Kroos, who had previously played for Bayern Munich, played a pivotal role in helping Real Madrid secure La Liga titles and UEFA Champions League victories.
This season, Real Madrid has appeared to struggle at times without the steadying influence of Kroos in the midfield.
In a conversation with Rio Ferdinand, Courtois shared (via Madrid Xtra):
“Toni Kroos always knew exactly what to do. With his left or right foot, he could already anticipate where to pass the ball before even receiving it. I think we really miss him this year.”
