Cristiano Ronaldo has revealed that his son, Mateo, prefers Kylian Mbappé over him. Despite scoring a brace in Al Nassr’s comfortable win in the Saudi Pro League, which moved the 39-year-old to the top of the goal-scoring charts, Ronaldo’s five-year-old son wasn’t impressed.
In an interview with La Sexta, Ronaldo shared that Mateo often tells him that Mbappé is a better player.
“Mateo really likes Mbappé,” Ronaldo said. “He sometimes tells me, ‘Hey dad, Mbappé is better than you,’ and I reply, ‘No, I am better than him, I have scored more goals.'”
Mbappé, who once idolized Ronaldo, has started to mirror some of his achievements at Real Madrid following his high-profile summer move from Paris Saint-Germain. After his hat trick against Real Valladolid, Mbappé has now scored 15 goals in La Liga, placing him second in the Pichichi race behind Barcelona’s Robert Lewandowski. Ronaldo, meanwhile, scored a club-record 450 goals for Los Blancos between 2009 and 2018.
