Patrick Dorgu is set to undergo his Manchester United medical and sign his contract on Sunday, according to European transfer expert Fabrizio Romano.
“Patrick Dorgu will become a Man United player for €30m plus €5m in add-ons from Lecce, as expected,” Romano wrote on X. “Medical booked and contracts to be signed by Sunday.”
Dorgu was an unused substitute in Lecce’s 3-1 victory over Parma on Friday, as goals from Santiago Pierotti and Nikola Krstovic secured their sixth league win of the season. Despite not playing, the 20-year-old’s imminent departure was the focus after the match, with Dorgu seen waving goodbye to the traveling fans in an emotional farewell.
United manager Ruben Amorim believes Dorgu will be a perfect fit for his 3-4-2-1 system, which relies heavily on wing-backs providing width. Dorgu also offers a solution to United’s ongoing left-back issues, with Luke Shaw and Tyrell Malacia both sidelined long-term. In their absence, right-backs Noussair Mazraoui and Diogo Dalot have been filling in on the left side of defense.
