Manchester United manager Ruben Amorim has issued a challenge to Alejandro Garnacho, urging the young forward to improve his performances as speculation about his future continues.
Garnacho, who has been linked with a potential move to Napoli, has had an uncertain future at United, especially after being dropped for the Premier League match against Manchester City, alongside Marcus Rashford. While the 20-year-old has returned to Amorim’s squad, his long-term prospects at the club remain unclear.
Amorim acknowledged Garnacho’s talent but stressed the need for improvement.
“That is clear. He has talent. He needs to learn to play in a different position. He needs to play better inside,” Amorim told reporters.
“He’s improved a lot defensively when he doesn’t have the ball. But sometimes, by focusing on that, he’s not in the right position to make transitions like he used to.
“I prefer to defend and then build up with the whole team to reach the final third. He’s still adjusting to this system. He’s improving during training and started the last game. Let’s see what happens tomorrow. I think he’s changing the way he sees himself.”
