Former Chelsea defender John Terry has named four current and retired Premier League centre-backs as the best in the league’s history.
Terry shared his picks during an interview with SportBible, where he was asked to name his ‘Mount Rushmore’ of defenders.
The England legend included himself in this exclusive group and also highlighted Manchester United icon Rio Ferdinand.
Both Ferdinand and Terry are regarded as two of the finest central defenders in football history. Ferdinand earned his place among the best with his exceptional career at Manchester United.
Terry explained, “I’m going to go with Rio. His longevity, playing at top clubs, competing in major competitions year in and year out, and winning trophies consistently – he had everything. For me, Rio’s definitely in the conversation.”
Terry also mentioned Liverpool captain Virgil van Dijk and Arsenal legend Tony Adams as part of his elite selection.
