Former Chelsea defender William Gallas has stated that Jadon Sancho cannot stay at the club unless he improves his performances.
Gallas urged Chelsea to reconsider their decision to sign the England international permanently, arguing that Sancho has not shown he can perform at the Premier League club.
The Frenchman was particularly unimpressed by Sancho’s performance in Chelsea’s 1-0 loss to Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium on Sunday, where Mikel Merino’s first-half header secured the win for the Gunners.
“Sancho has talent; everyone knows that. But we don’t understand why he can’t perform and show what he’s capable of,” Gallas told Stadium Astro.
“At Dortmund, he was magnificent. At Manchester United, things didn’t go well for him. He came to Chelsea, and initially, we saw the Sancho from Dortmund, but then he disappeared.
“I don’t know what the issue is, but right now, he can’t stay at Chelsea. He needs to do more.”
Sancho joined Chelsea on loan from Manchester United last summer. His deal will become permanent for a fee between £22 million and £25 million if Chelsea finish 14th or higher in the Premier League.
