The Premier League has imposed a two-match touchline ban on Liverpool manager Arne Slot following his red card in Wednesday night’s Merseyside derby against Everton.
The match ended in chaos after James Tarkowski’s late header secured a point for the hosts, leading to a brawl between the two teams at Goodison Park. In the aftermath, Abdoulaye Doucoure and Curtis Jones were also sent off, along with Slot and his assistant, Sipke Hulshoff.
As a consequence of the incident, Slot’s post-match press conference was cancelled, and the Premier League has now handed down a sanction. A statement confirmed that Slot was dismissed for using “offensive, insulting, or abusive language,” resulting in a two-match ban from the touchline.
Despite the controversy, Slot’s Liverpool side remain at the top of the Premier League, holding a seven-point lead over second-placed Arsenal.
