Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has expressed deep concern over Gabriel Jesus, who was stretchered off during their FA Cup defeat to Manchester United on Sunday.
Jesus, starting alongside Kai Havertz and Gabriel Martinelli in attack, lasted only 40 minutes before suffering what appeared to be a serious knee injury.
The Brazilian forward was visibly in agony as he left the pitch and was replaced by Raheem Sterling.
Speaking after the match, Arteta admitted: “Big worry, that’s my feeling. He had to come off with a stretcher. The impact and the feeling he had weren’t good.”
In a separate interview with the BBC, Arteta added: “No update yet, but it’s not looking good. He was in a lot of pain, and the stretcher was necessary. It’s worrying.”
Jesus’ injury compounds Arsenal’s growing fitness concerns. Defenders Ben White and Takehiro Tomiyasu remain unavailable, while Bukayo Saka and Ethan Nwaneri are also sidelined.
