Chelsea winger Jadon Sancho has expressed frustration over his lack of goalscoring form, admitting it is “annoying” not to be doing better in front of goal after another blank in the weekend’s 1-0 win over Leicester City.
The victory saw Chelsea move into the top four, edging out Manchester City, but Sancho extended his goal drought to 16 consecutive games without scoring for the club.
Sancho’s last goal came in Chelsea’s 4-3 win over Tottenham Hotspur on December 8. Since then, the 24-year-old has made regular starts but has only registered a single assist, which came in January against Crystal Palace, leaving him with just one goal contribution in the past three months.
Speaking to Chelsea’s official media, Sancho acknowledged his progress but recognized the need for improvement. “I know I can do better, especially in front of goal. It’s kind of annoying not to score, but I know it will come. I just have to take my time and be patient,” he said.
Since joining Chelsea on loan from Manchester United last summer, Sancho has scored twice and assisted six times. While this is an improvement compared to his disrupted 2023/24 campaign, it still falls short of the ten goal involvements he had in the 2022/23 season.
Chelsea’s win over Leicester, following their victory against Southampton, marked their first consecutive Premier League wins of 2025. With momentum building and key players returning to fitness, the Blues are in a strong position to qualify for the Champions League for the first time since 2022.
“It’s a great position to be in,” Sancho said about reclaiming a top-four spot. “Obviously, we want to play Champions League football next year, that’s the aim, but it’s going to be very tough. We’ve got a few hard fixtures, home and away, so we just have to keep at it and give 100% all the time.”
