Former Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp is reportedly open to discussions with Real Madrid should the Spanish giants decide to part ways with Carlo Ancelotti, according to recent reports.
Following their Champions League elimination on Wednesday, it was suggested that Madrid officials have already made the decision to dismiss Ancelotti after the Copa del Rey final later this month, offering him one final chance to secure silverware before his tenure ends.
Ancelotti has faced increasing pressure due to Madrid’s underwhelming campaign, and reports indicate that even before making their decision on Ancelotti, club officials had begun considering Klopp as a potential replacement. The German coach is currently in a non-managerial role as Red Bull’s head of global soccer, but sources suggest that he is growing restless and is considering a return to the dugout.
According to UOL Esporte in Brazil, Klopp would be willing to entertain offers from two specific clubs: the Brazil national team, who are reportedly targeting Ancelotti, or Real Madrid. With Brazil keen to appoint a new manager quickly, this could open the door for Madrid to act sooner, potentially freeing up a managerial spot at the Santiago Bernabéu.
While Bayer Leverkusen’s Xabi Alonso has long been viewed as Madrid’s top choice to replace Ancelotti, the Bundesliga side’s sporting director recently confirmed that Alonso will not be leaving this summer. However, should Madrid decide to act quickly following their decision on Ancelotti, Klopp may be available sooner and could assist in Madrid’s efforts to reclaim the La Liga title from Barcelona.
