Real Madrid is prepared to part ways with veteran midfielder Luka Modric at the end of the season, allowing him to leave as a free agent, according to reports from AS.
Despite Modric’s desire to end his career with Los Blancos, the club is reportedly not planning to offer the 39-year-old a contract extension. His current deal expires this summer, opening the door for a potential move, with clubs in Qatar said to be monitoring the situation.
Modric recently made history as the oldest player to score for Real Madrid and currently ranks ninth in the club’s all-time appearance list.
Fellow veteran Lucas Vazquez is in a similar position. His contract also runs out in June, and Real Madrid are unlikely to renew it, especially with Liverpool’s Trent Alexander-Arnold reportedly set to join as a free agent — reducing the need for Vazquez’s services.
Both players look set to bring their long-standing Real Madrid careers to a close in the coming months.
