Liverpool maintain interest in Alexander Isak but have no intention of meeting Newcastle United’s £150m valuation of the Swedish striker.
The Reds are among several top European clubs monitoring Isak, who is having another impressive season with Newcastle. After scoring 25 goals across all competitions last season, Isak has already surpassed 20 goals this term, including a goal in Newcastle’s Carabao Cup final victory over Liverpool.
Arsenal, Chelsea, Manchester United, and Barcelona are also reportedly keen on the 25-year-old ahead of the summer transfer window, though Newcastle are determined to hold on to their star forward for the foreseeable future.
With Diogo Jota’s ongoing fitness issues and Darwin Nunez’s inconsistency, Liverpool are expected to look for a new central striker this summer, and Isak appears to be an ideal target.
However, according to The Athletic, while Liverpool “admire” Isak, they are unlikely to agree to Newcastle’s £150m asking price. A move could still happen, but it would depend on the financial details.
The report also suggests that Liverpool are not planning to make a “marquee signing” this summer and will instead allocate funds across multiple positions. The club is looking to strengthen in various areas, including the left-back spot, with Bournemouth’s Milos Kerkez reportedly a target. Additionally, reinforcements in midfield and defense, along with a potential new right-back due to Trent Alexander-Arnold’s rumored departure to Real Madrid, are also on the cards.
