Ruben Amorim has confirmed that Manchester United will have centre-backs Leny Yoro and Harry Maguire available for their match against Nottingham Forest on Tuesday night.
Yoro, who suffered a foot injury in the match against Arsenal earlier this month, missed the subsequent victories over Real Sociedad and Leicester City. However, the French teenager returned to training last Friday and is now in contention for the Forest clash. He expressed to MUTV that he was feeling “really good” and was experiencing “no pain.”
While going over the team news ahead of the game, Amorim also provided updates on players who are still sidelined.
“Luke [Shaw] isn’t ready yet, but we’ve started doing some drills with him,” the head coach said regarding the full-back’s return to training.
“Mason [Mount] is feeling better; he was already on the bench for the last game. I think Kobbie [Mainoo] is nearly back, but he won’t be ready for this match. Jonny Evans and Ayden [Heaven] are both recovering,” he added.
Amorim also confirmed the status of other players: “Licha [Martinez] is out. Maguire is ready for the game. Yoro is also good to go.”
Maguire, who missed the Arsenal and Leicester matches, along with both legs of the Real Sociedad tie due to a calf issue, is now fit. Both he and Yoro had been regular starters in Amorim’s preferred back three alongside summer signing Matthijs de Ligt. During their absence, Heaven had an opportunity before his own injury setback, and Victor Lindelof was recalled, with Noussair Mazraoui also used as an auxiliary centre-back.
For the upcoming match against Forest, United will have Patrick Chinazaekpere Dorgu available for a domestic game for the first time since February. However, Chido Obi is with the Under-18 squad for this week’s FA Youth Cup semi-final against Aston Villa, where the Dane has scored seven goals in three games.
