Manchester United have announced that Brazilian winger Antony has joined Real Betis on loan for the rest of the 2024/25 campaign.
Antony, who arrived at Old Trafford in the summer of 2022 for a fee exceeding £80 million, made an immediate impact by scoring in his first three Premier League appearances. However, the 24-year-old has struggled to maintain that form, managing just two league goals in the subsequent two-and-a-half seasons.
After losing his starting spot under Erik ten Hag—his former manager at Ajax, who played a key role in his high-profile transfer—Antony has found game time hard to come by. His opportunities further dwindled under the short tenure of Ruben Amorim, United’s current head coach.
Eager for a fresh start, Antony pushed for a January move and completed his medical in Spain over the weekend. The winger expressed his excitement about the switch, saying he is “so happy” to have finalized the loan deal with Betis.
This move offers Antony the chance to revive his career and regain consistent playing time away from Old Trafford.
