Manchester United are set to pursue a second signing in January following their agreement to bring in Patrick Dorgu, according to Fabrizio Romano.
United reached a £25 million deal with Serie A club Lecce on Tuesday for the Denmark international wing-back. Dorgu, 21, will undergo a medical in the coming days and is set to become the first senior signing under manager Ruben Amorim.
Amorim has previously mentioned that completing transfers in January would be challenging unless players were sold, and United have already loaned out Antony to Real Betis. Next, according to the Daily Mail, the club may look to send Tyrell Malacia out on loan once Dorgu’s transfer is finalized.
Meanwhile, Alejandro Garnacho is drawing interest from both Napoli and Chelsea, who are reportedly keen on signing the Argentine winger on a permanent deal. If Garnacho departs, it could free up space for another significant addition, with Romano reporting that United have already identified their target.
United are reportedly eyeing a loan move for Bayern Munich’s forward Mathys Tel, who has expressed a desire to leave the German club before the transfer window closes on February 3. The 19-year-old has only featured in eight Bundesliga matches this season under Vincent Kompany. Arsenal, Tottenham, and United are all believed to be monitoring his situation.
Tel joined Bayern from Rennes for €20 million in 2022, and his price tag is likely to be much higher now. Reports from Sky Sports Germany indicate that Tel has already turned down a move to Chelsea, citing the club’s depth in attacking positions. A move to United, Spurs, or Arsenal could be more appealing, as these clubs are currently dealing with injury concerns or lack of quality in their forward lines.
David Ornstein of The Athletic further reports that United will pursue Tel if Bayern are willing to make him available for loan and if additional players leave Old Trafford. However, he clarifies that United are not actively pushing for a deal until they have completed outgoing transfers.
