Manchester United and Napoli are set to resume discussions over the potential transfer of Alejandro Garnacho, who has also been linked with Chelsea, according to reports.
The 20-year-old winger could be allowed to leave Old Trafford if United receive an offer close to their £50m (€60m) asking price, though the club isn’t actively looking to sell the talented Argentine.
Garnacho’s fit within Ruben Amorim’s 3-4-2-1 system has come under scrutiny in recent weeks, although he has started four of United’s last five matches. The Portuguese coach has publicly praised the winger for his “improvement in every part of the game.” Despite this, Amorim admitted uncertainty about whether Garnacho will still be at United by the close of the January transfer window.
Napoli are seeking a replacement for Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, who recently joined Paris Saint-Germain, and Garnacho is reportedly one of their main targets. Sky Sports states that talks between United and Napoli are set to continue, especially as Napoli’s pursuit of Borussia Dortmund’s Karim Adeyemi has stalled due to the player’s reluctance to consider a mid-season move.
As a result, Napoli’s interest in Garnacho has reportedly become “more concrete,” with both clubs now likely to negotiate a deal to reach an agreement on the fee.
