Manchester United have raised their bid to sign Lecce left-back Patrick Dorgu to €30m (£25.3m), according to reports.
The club is seeking an attack-minded left-back for Ruben Amorim’s system and, after missing out on Paris Saint-Germain’s Nuno Mendes, has shifted its focus to Dorgu. United’s initial offer of €27m (£22.8m) was rejected, but they have returned with an improved bid.
The Athletic reports that the latest offer is now €30m, which is believed to be the maximum United is prepared to pay for the versatile 20-year-old. However, Fabrizio Romano suggests the bid exceeds €30m. Lecce, meanwhile, are holding out for €40m (£33.7m) as they aim to retain their key players while battling relegation. Club president Saverio Sticchi Damiani has emphasized the importance of keeping the squad intact.
This improved offer comes shortly after United allowed Antony to travel to Real Betis to finalize a loan move. Betis will not pay a loan fee but will cover most of Antony’s salary, potentially saving United up to £1.5m over six months.
Meanwhile, the future of Marcus Rashford remains uncertain. Despite being sidelined under Amorim, his rumoured £300,000-per-week wages have complicated negotiations with potential suitors. Talks with Borussia Dortmund have reportedly broken down, and AC Milan opted to use their foreign loan spot on Manchester City’s Kyle Walker instead of Rashford. Struggling West Ham remains interested in the 27-year-old.
