Manchester United remain intent on parting ways with Marcus Rashford this summer, despite his strong performances during his loan spell at Aston Villa, according to reports.
Rashford’s relationship with United head coach Ruben Amorim deteriorated earlier in the season, leading to his exclusion from the first team before he was loaned to Villa in January. Since joining Villa, the forward has impressed, earning a recall to the England squad through a string of standout performances.
One of Rashford’s most notable contributions came in Villa’s recent Champions League quarter-final clash against Paris Saint-Germain, where he provided the assist for their third goal in a dramatic effort to overturn a first-leg deficit. This sparked suggestions that United should consider reintegrating Rashford into their squad for next season. However, The Times reports that United are pleased with his form, as it enhances the prospects of a permanent sale in the summer.
Villa have the option to make Rashford’s loan permanent for £40m but have yet to decide whether to pursue the deal. It remains uncertain whether Rashford, now 27, would be interested in continuing his career at Villa Park. Reports have also linked him with a potential summer move to Paris Saint-Germain.
Despite his revival at Villa, Sky Sports News states that United officials have no regrets about their decision to loan him out, insisting they made several efforts to help him improve both on and off the field before ultimately deciding to move on.
United are already scouting replacements, with names such as Victor Osimhen of Napoli, Liam Delap from Ipswich Town, and Wolverhampton Wanderers’ Matheus Cunha reportedly under consideration.
