Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has confirmed that Bukayo Saka has a “good chance” of featuring against Crystal Palace on Wednesday, despite concerns over his injury, and emphasized that he doesn’t plan on making many changes with the Champions League semi-final against Paris Saint-Germain on the horizon.
Saka made his long-awaited return earlier this month after 101 days sidelined by a hamstring injury. He marked his comeback with a goal just six minutes into his return and played a crucial role in Arsenal’s Champions League quarter-final victory over Real Madrid.

However, Saka was forced off on Sunday after a reckless challenge from Ipswich Town’s Leif Davis, which earned Davis a red card. The England international was seen icing his ankle on the bench, sparking fears of another setback before Arsenal’s first Champions League semi-final in 16 years.
Arteta downplayed those concerns, providing reassurance ahead of the midweek fixture. “We have to wait and see how he reacts after today’s session, but there’s nothing too serious,” Arteta said. “If we want to, I think there’s a good chance he can play tomorrow.”
With a six-day gap between Arsenal’s Premier League game against Crystal Palace and their PSG showdown next Tuesday, Arteta was asked whether he’d consider rotating his squad. “We cannot think about that,” he insisted. “When players are fit and available, they have to play. They are at their best when they play consistently.”
Arteta also noted the importance of managing the squad’s physical and emotional well-being. “If they’re available and in condition to perform, they will play. If not, they won’t,” he explained. “There’s a balance to be struck, and we have a top staff to guide us.”
The manager also confirmed that Riccardo Calafiori and Jorginho will be unavailable. “Jorginho will be out for a few weeks, unfortunately,” Arteta revealed, adding that Thomas Partey will miss the first leg against PSG due to suspension, further limiting Arsenal’s midfield options.
