Mourinho clashes with Galatasaray coach after Osimhen’s brace seals victory
Fenerbahce manager José Mourinho could face repercussions following an altercation with his Galatasaray counterpart, Okan Buruk, on Wednesday night.
The 62-year-old Mourinho was seen pinching Buruk’s nose, which led to the Galatasaray manager collapsing onto the pitch, sparking further tensions. The incident occurred after Fenerbahce suffered a 2-1 defeat to their rivals at the Şükrü Saracoğlu Stadium in the Turkish Cup quarter-finals.
Napoli loanee Victor Osimhen scored both goals for Napoli in the first half, securing a vital victory for Galatasaray. Sebastian Szymański’s goal for Fenerbahce was merely a consolation.
Tensions escalated in the second half when the referee showed three red cards to Fenerbahce’s Mert Hakan Yandaş and Galatasaray’s Kerem Demirbay and Barış Alper Yılmaz, despite none of the players being on the pitch at the time.
However, it was Mourinho who stole the limelight at full-time with his attack on Buruk. The former Manchester United, Chelsea, and Tottenham manager was escorted down the tunnel by his coaching staff, while players from both teams rushed to the scene.
