Chelsea relied on captain Reece James to secure a dramatic 2-2 draw against Bournemouth on Tuesday.
The Blues dominated the first half, racking up 13 shots to Bournemouth’s solitary attempt, and took an early lead when Cole Palmer coolly slotted home after 13 minutes.
Bournemouth leveled the score shortly after the break through Justin Kluivert’s penalty, awarded after Antoine Semenyo was brought down by Moises Caicedo. Despite controversy over David Brooks escaping a red card for a high challenge on Marc Cucurella, Semenyo later fired in from inside the box to give Bournemouth the lead.
Just when it seemed the Cherries would claim an impressive victory, Reece James marked his return by curling a stunning free-kick into the bottom corner during stoppage time, salvaging a crucial point for Chelsea.
