Nollywood Actress Bukky Raji has talked candidly about her tense relationship with her older sister, Remi Surutu.
In an interview with Biola Bayo, Bukky claimed that because she and Remi share a father but have separate mothers, they are blood sisters. Despite being her biological sister, Surutu and her are not close, she said.
The Yoruba actress recalled how she invited Remi Surutu to her wedding introduction in Ikorodu, but she didn’t show up. She noted that all her efforts to make peace with her sister were futile.
“Remi Surutu is my blood sister, my older sister. She is my father’s daughter, we are from the same father. Biologically, she is my sister, but otherwise, I don’t know. She wasn’t at my introduction despite living in Ikorodu. I did my introduction in Ikorodu; when planning the wedding, I invited her, and she said okay, but eventually, she didn’t come. She didn’t try. I tried to reach out to her. My mum made such I called every necessary people. If she wasn’t my blood sister and I was seeing her from afar, I would have been her die-hard fan. We shouldn’t be bringing the fight between our mums into our relationship. So far, we are on the same page; bonding isn’t bad”.
Bukky Raji also revealed why she married late, claiming it was because she is the last born of the family and she never thought marriage was important.
“My getting married late was because I am the last born of the family. My father died at 7, and my mum took it upon herself not to remarry. I never thought it was important to get married”.
Bukky Raji isn’t the only one who has a strained relationship with her blood.
