Al Nassr captain, Cristiano Ronaldo, has revealed that Barcelona attempted to sign him early in his career.
Ronaldo, who later played for Barcelona’s La Liga rivals Real Madrid, enjoyed a successful stint at Los Blancos, winning numerous trophies, including the UEFA Champions League.
In a recent interview with @EduAguirre7, the 39-year-old forward shared that Barcelona showed interest in him while he was at Sporting CP.
“I could have played for Barça before Manchester United,” Ronaldo said, as quoted by Fabrizio Romano. “They tried to sign me, they wanted me, but it was a year later when Manchester United came into the picture.”
Ronaldo also spoke fondly of his time playing at Camp Nou as a Real Madrid player: “I loved playing in the Camp Nou. They booed me, they insulted me, and I loved it.”
Ronaldo has also had stints with Juventus and Manchester United throughout his illustrious career.
