Arsenal were unable to secure any new signings on transfer deadline day, despite widespread speculation.
Manager Mikel Arteta acknowledged that his squad was “very short” following injuries to key players Bukayo Saka and Gabriel Jesus. However, as the January window closed on Monday night, no new additions were made to strengthen the squad.
Sky Sports reports that Arsenal are now “focused” on making new signings in the summer.
Despite this, Manchester United legend Gary Neville believes Arsenal can still compete for the Premier League title. “I do think they can win it. It’s a long shot, but there’s a long way to go,” Neville said. “What they have to do is be there if Liverpool slip. The best chance for Arsenal is a major injury to Liverpool, though that’s not something anyone would want.”
Arsenal currently sit in second place with 50 points, six behind league leaders Liverpool.
