Al-Hilal have officially announced the termination of Neymar Jr’s contract, ending the Brazilian’s injury-ridden 18-month stint in Saudi Arabia.
In a statement shared on social media, the club revealed that they had “mutually agreed” to part ways with the player. They also expressed gratitude for Neymar’s contributions during his time at the club and wished him success in his future endeavors.
The 32-year-old made just seven appearances for Al-Hilal after joining from Paris Saint-Germain in August 2023. Only two months into his tenure, Neymar suffered a ruptured cruciate ligament in his left knee while playing for Brazil in an October 2023 World Cup qualifier, sidelining him for nearly a year.
Though he made brief appearances in October and November 2023, Neymar suffered a hamstring injury, which has kept him out of action since then.
Neymar was reportedly earning around $104 million annually at Al-Hilal. The former Barcelona and PSG star is now expected to return to his boyhood club, Santos.
