Real Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti has warned that “anything can happen at the Bernabeu” ahead of the second leg of their Champions League play-off against Manchester City.
The La Liga champions came from behind twice to secure a 3-2 win at the Etihad on Tuesday night.
Erling Haaland opened the scoring, but Kylian Mbappe equalized for Madrid. Haaland restored City’s lead from the penalty spot before late goals from Brahim Diaz and Jude Bellingham sealed the victory for Madrid.
“We didn’t deserve to be 1-2 down,” Ancelotti told reporters. “We were very dangerous and defended well. In the end, the victory is deserved.”
He added, “We have to stay calm. It’s only the first half. Anything can happen at the Bernabeu.”
On Manchester City, Ancelotti remarked, “They are a really good team and played a great game. I think it was a penalty [on Foden]. The referee is one of the best in Europe.”
