Manchester United and Paris Saint-Germain have both expressed a willingness to activate the release clause in Victor Osimhen’s contract with Napoli and are now in discussions with the Nigerian striker, according to reports.
Osimhen was strongly linked with Chelsea last summer, but after negotiations broke down, he joined Turkish club Galatasaray on a season-long loan. The deal, however, does not include a permanent transfer option.
While Galatasaray is eager to keep Osimhen, they are facing tough competition. Yagiz Sabuncuoglu has reported that both Manchester United and PSG have significantly increased their interest in the 26-year-old.
“Victor Osimhen is about to sign with a world-renowned management company,” Sabuncuoglu told Sports Digitale. “In fact, a Real Madrid player is mediating these talks. What does this mean? The chances of him staying at Galatasaray in June have greatly diminished.”
“PSG and Manchester United have made verbal offers to Osimhen regarding salary and contract length. Both clubs are willing to meet Napoli’s release clause. Galatasaray will find it very difficult to compete with these two clubs. He is likely to leave at the end of the season.”
The exact value of Osimhen’s release clause remains unclear, but reports suggest it has dropped to around £65 million, a relatively affordable fee for top European clubs. However, United manager Ruben Amorim has already raised concerns about the club’s transfer budget for the summer.
Osimhen has continued his impressive form in Turkey, scoring 17 goals and providing five assists in 23 appearances across all competitions, matching his goal tally from last season at Napoli.
