Arsenal claimed an important three points on the road in the Premier League with a narrow 1-0 victory over Wolves at Molineux on Saturday afternoon.
With Liverpool facing an Ipswich Town side reeling from a 6-0 thrashing last weekend, Arsenal’s primary objective seemed to be keeping pace with the league leaders. However, the Gunners faced a tough test against a determined Wolves side looking to bounce back from a poor run of form.
The hosts started brightly, with Nelson Semedo delivering a perfect cross to Pablo Sarabia, who fired a volley over the bar from close range. Arsenal, meanwhile, looked most dangerous when Wolves had possession, exploiting turnovers during Wolves’ build-up play. Leandro Trossard twice set up Kai Havertz with excellent deliveries, but the German failed to capitalize with two wayward headers.
The first half lacked quality, and the game took a dramatic turn just before the break when Myles Lewis-Skelly was shown a red card by referee Michael Oliver for a reckless challenge on Matt Doherty.
Despite being reduced to 10 men, Arsenal started the second half strongly. Gabriel, Declan Rice, and Havertz all came close to breaking the deadlock, but Wolves remained a threat on the counter. Matheus Cunha wasted a golden chance for the hosts, failing to convert when it mattered.
Wolves’ fortunes shifted when Joao Gomes, already on a yellow card, committed a clumsy foul on Jurrien Timber and was sent off. Arsenal quickly seized the opportunity, with substitute Riccardo Calafiori delivering the decisive moment. The Italian slotted home a composed finish inside the area, giving the Gunners the lead.
Arsenal managed the closing stages with composure, although Rayan Ait-Nouri could have leveled the score late on. The Wolves winger broke behind Arsenal’s defense but fired his effort straight at goalkeeper David Raya.
The Gunners’ resilience saw them through, securing a hard-fought win to maintain momentum in the title race.
